Tasting Experiences

We invite you to taste and learn about our wines during your visit to the Napa Valley. We offer educational tastings of our still and sparkling wines by appointment only. We consider each tasting a special event – for you and for us.

Due to the nature of our permit, we are limited by the number of guests we can see daily. Reservations are required in advance for all tastings.

Seated Tastings:

We offer seated tastings at various times during the day. Please check Vino Visit reservations below for those times.

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by your wine educator with one of our small lot Schramsberg sparkling wines. After a little introduction to the long and rich history of the Davies Family and Schramsberg Vineyards, you will be seated to taste through a variety of Davies Vineyards Pinot Noirs and Cabernet Sauvignons.

Please allow approximately one hour for the tasting.

Cabernet Sauvignon Experience:

Available daily at 1:00 p.m.

Are you enamored with Cabernet Sauvignon? And why wouldn’t you be? This small, thick skin grape has wowed public and critics alike all over the world. And there is arguably no place better to grow Cabernet Sauvignon than right here in Napa Valley. But not all Cabernets are alike. The terroir of a place has a remarkable effect on this grape, and we are going to show you how that reflects in the wine.

In this tasting experience, you will be welcomed by starting off with our Schramsberg sparkling wine. Once seated, we will taste two vintages of “jd” Cabernet Sauvignon from our J. Davies Estate on Diamond Mountain. We will follow this up by tasting Cabernet Sauvignons from Diamond Mountain, Howell Mountain and Calistoga appellations in Napa Valley in order to demonstrate the effects of different climates, altitudes and soils (or as the French call it – terroir) on the finished wines.

This is a group tasting and is limited to a maximum of 8 people.

Please allow approximately 90 minutes for this visit.

$75 per person (Wine Club members pay $25.00 per person*)

24 hour advance reservations are required. Check Vino Visit below to see available dates.

Pinot Noir Experience:

Available daily at 2:00 p.m.

What does “Pinot Noir” mean? Why is Pinot Noir known for being the grape varietal that is most influenced by the vineyard location? Learn the answers to these questions first-hand, while enjoying a tasting of six wines as we take you through a journey of the unique expression of Pinot Noir. This grape variety is one of the most challenging grapes to grow, and only thrives in a few isolated locations around the world. As such, the expression of the Pinot Noir grape can vary greatly in a wine, due to the slightest differences in soil, sun exposure, or microclimate.

In this tasting experience, you start with a Pinot Noir-based Schramsberg sparkling wine, showing how this red-skinned grape makes a deliciously vibrant sparkling wine. Following this refreshing starter, you will enjoy a mini vertical tasting of two vintages of the same wine, to show the effect of weather in each year. You will then taste three different Pinot Noirs from three different areas of California’s North Coast, to demonstrate the effects of different climates, altitudes and soils (or as the French would call it – terroir) on the finished wines.

This is a group tasting and is limited to a maximum of 8 people.

Please allow approximately 90 minutes for this visit.

$60 per person (Complimentary for Wine Club members*)

24 hour advance reservations are required. Check Vino Visit below to see available dates.
